JOB SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate will be an experienced paralegal that has the ability to support BioCryst's internal and external legal teams in patent litigation. The ideal candidate must be able to work with little or no supervision but also be a team player within the legal department. This selected candidate must be exceedingly well organized, creative, flexible, and enjoy the challenges of supporting an office of diverse people and programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Support internal and external legal teams in a wide range of duties including but not limited to document and data collection and production, preparation of case materials, and coordination of meetings with various stakeholders/clients/business partners.
* Assist with day-to-day management of litigation from pre-suit to appeals, including maintenance and organization of master case files.
* Coordinate document collection of client data in preparation for review and production.
* Support in managing and preparing document productions as directed.
* Assist legal teams with in-depth deposition preparation, including in-person or remote technology, coordination of logistics and management of deposition materials.
* Assist with PTAB and other USPTO filings.
* Contribute to the management and retrieval of patents, prior art, U.S. and international file histories.
* Coordinate litigation activities with internal and external parties
* Review incoming materials and documents. Prepare accurate case calendar materials and coordinate meetings.
* Assist in drafting common pleading and discovery templates, answers/counterclaims, and requests for productions, interrogatories, and subpoenas.
* Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

* Minimum of 7 years' experience working as a litigation paralegal; experience in Hatch-Waxman litigation preferred.
* ABA-approved paralegal certificate (required).
* Advanced proficiency and understanding of the litigation lifecycle and key documents related to patent litigation.
* Advanced knowledge of relevant jurisdictional/court/agency processes and procedures, including knowledge of PTAB, federal and appellate court practices.
* Fundamental proficiency in software including, but not limited to, Relativity, LiveNote, Case Notebook, PACER, ECF/P-TACTS, USPTO Patent Center, and Lexis Nexis/Westlaw.
* Advanced proficiency in general software including, but not limited to, MS Outlook, MS Word, MS Excel and Acrobat Adobe.
* The ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to manage competing deadlines and assignments.
* Strong communication, organizational and time management skills.
